Paul Hastings has hired Willkie Farr & Gallagher's vice chair in New York, the firm said on Tuesday, just one month after the acquisition of a finance partner from Paul Haveting in Brooklyn.

Jeffrey Goldfarb, who has been with Willkie for more than 16 years and served as a partner for over ten years, is joining Paul Hastings as part of its leveraged finance and private equity practice.

"I was happy at Willkie," said the former star. Paul Hastings has a very dynamic finance practice, Goldfarb said, referring to the Los Angeles-based firm's "high-end" leveraged finance firm and "growing" private equity firm.

"The combination of those two really complements my practice and what I desire to achieve," he added.

Goldfarb has focused his practice on complex debt transactions for borrowers and lenders, with a focus on leveraged acquisition financings and debt restructuring.

Private equity funds and their portfolio companies, public corporations, alternative lenders, hedge funds, and investment banks are among his clients. Goldfarb worked as a firm associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett for about five years before joining Willkie in 2005.

Paul Hastings has more than 100 lawyers in his leveraged finance practice.

A representative from Willkie did not immediately respond to requests for comment Tuesday. The firm last month appointed Andres Mena, a Paul Hastings partner, to co-chair its finance practice from New York.
