Demi Lovato has announced that she is also using she/her pronouns over a year since she began singing non-binary and began using they/them. In an Aug. 1 interview, Lovato mentioned that she has become more feminine.
Lovato told Spout that she believes the couple is a fluid being and that she began using them/them pronouns publicly in May 2021 because she felt at ease with both masculine and feminine energy.
When I was given the choice of going into a restroom and it said women and men, I didn't feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn't feel necessarily like a woman. I just felt like a person, Lovato said. That's all they/them are about for me. It's just about being human at your core.
According to Out, Lovato previously updated her pronouns to they/them and she/her on Instagram in April, so they both identify with both sets of pronouns.
Lovato discussed people misgendering them while on the Spout Podcast. "I think what's important is nobodys perfect," she said. Everyone makes mistakes at some point, especially when it's learning. It's all about respect.
Lovato will release her eighth studio album, Holy Fvck, on Friday, August 19. The album will feature their previously-released single, Skin of My Teeth, which is similar to her earlier rock songs from her first two albums, Dont Forget and Here We Go Again. This summer, she will perform her new material on the Holy Fvck tour in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and Chile.
