Dev Patel, a star of Slumdog Millionaire, attempted to put an end to an enticing discussion that resulted in a stabbing Monday night in Australia.

According to 7NEWS, a man and a woman were arguing in the street when they finally moved the heated exchange inside a gas station where several witnesses including Patel tried to intervene.

The heated exchange reportedly erupted, and the 32-year-old woman stabbed the 34-year-old man. The man was taken to a hospital, and he is expected to recover, according to local authorities.

Patels reps told 7NEWS that Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and deescalate the situation and settle the conflict.

The group managed to stay on site until the police and eventually the ambulance arrived.

The actors' reps said they did not see any heroes in the incident.

His reps continued that this specific incident underscores a larger systemic issue of marginalized individuals in society not being treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Patel, 32, wants that same amount of media attention this story is receiving will inspire legislators to be compassionate in considering long-term solutions that benefit not only the individuals who were involved, but the community as a whole.

The woman was apprehended at the scene and is charged with aggravated assault. She was not allowed bail and will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Patel has been living in Australia since April 2021. He lives there with his Australian native girlfriend, actress TildaCobham-Hervey. The couple has been dating since 2018.
