Draymond Green will request a $164 million max contract extension from Warriors ...

Draymond Green is considered as the Golden State Warriors' heart and soul. Over the last decade, the Warriors' DNA has embodied the grit and strength in numbers philosophy. Now, Green is hoping to reciprocate his loyalty to the franchise in the form of a max contract extension, which he intends to request from the Golden States' front office.

Green, who will be eligible to sign a new five-year deal with the Warriors on August 3rd, is looking for a $164.2 million contract extension. He currently has two years left on the four-year, $100 million contract extension he signed with the Warriors in the 2019-2020 season, with the final year of the deal being a player option.

While Draymond has been credited for fostering the Warriors' championship culture, some analysts and fans have questioned whether he is suitable for a contract given his poor performances and injuries over the previous three seasons. When other Warriors players Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson, and Jordan Pool are added to the list, it becomes unclear whether Golden State would be willing to sign off on such a move and stagnate their cap flexibility even more.

One factor that might play in Greens' favor is his close connection with superstar teammate and Warriors franchise player Steph Curry, who has stated his desire to play all of his career with Green, as well as fellow Splash Brother Thompson. However, there might be an indication of what Draymond might see in the future sooner than later.
