The response to Marvel Studios' recent Disney+ program has been one of the most positive series launches in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Audiences seemed to like the debut of Iman Vellanis' young hero, Ms. Marvel. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but there was still plenty to like.
The next chance for fans to catch up with Kamala will be in next years The Marvels, the third new film in Phase 5. Shell will be collaborating with both Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau, something the shows post-credits sequence setup with an unexpected twist.
The more vital question is when will viewers get a chance to see a second season? Unfortunately, there has been no official activity on this front at least until now.
Season 2 Update: A Discouraging Experience
Jules OLoughlin, the photographer for Comicbook.com, said whether there is any new information regarding the Iman Vellani-led program going for a second season.
Sadly, OLoughlin admitted that he "hasn't" heard of any plans for a Season 2, and neither has one of the show's directors:
I can honestly say that at this stage, I haven't heard of any plans for a Season 2... There's so much going on with Marvel, and there's stuff happening and popping up all the time, but I haven't heard of anything, Sharmeen [Obaid-Chinoy] hasn't heard of anything. The next thing for Iman and the character of Kamala is to be in The Marvels. However, at this stage, there has been no discussion of a
As he enjoys working on the first, he stated that he would like to see a season two:
I'd like to see a season two, because I think season one was so fun and such a great shake, and people seem to be enthralled by Ms. Marvel's work that she has done so well. So listen, I think it'd be a lot of fun, certainly shooting. I had a lot of fun shooting the eps that I did on season one. Why not? What's not to like about that?
Could Another Season Even Be Possible?
When it comes to continuing the Disney+ story, it's surprising to learn that there hasn't been much progress yet. Marvel Studios has recently unveiled a slew of new projects over the course of Phase 5 and 6, yet a second season for Ms. Marvel wasn't revealed among them.
Although the Multiverse Saga has reached its conclusion, Septembers D23 will surely feature further news, but its hard to see where season two might fit in. Loki is the only live-action Marvel Studios show to be renewed for a secondseason.
What would happen if a Season 2 was made? On a character level, there's a lot to explore considering that Kamala would have been to a completely different environment than New Jersey.
Red Dagger and his protection of Kamran are also mentioned. Maybe the stage may even be set for the introduction of the Young Avengers!
Ms. Marvel is now streaming on Disney+, while The Marvels will be released in theaters around the world on July 28, 2023.
