Michael Keaton is an all-time great in the world of comic book movies. For one, he is the voice of one of the most well-known Batman adaptations. Warner Bros. even decided to bring him back in the upcoming film The Flash to replace Ben Affleck's Dark Knight.
One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's greatest villains is the Vulture, played by none other than Keaton.
The character first appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and then became a part of one of the most destructive and embarrassing post-credits scenes that the industry has seen in some time. It's not his fault, however.
Fans may be surprised to learn that he does not watch those kinds of films.
Keaton Doesn't Participate in Superheroes
Michael Keaton, who plays Batman and Vulture in Batman and Vulture, disclosed a shocking fact while interviewing Variety: he has never seen a whole superhero film from start to finish.
The actor claims that he "isn't" highbrow, but that he just has other shit to do the majority of the time:
I know people dont believe this, but Ive never seen an entire version of any Marvel film or other! Its not that I don't watch anything because I'm highbrow! I start watching something and think it's great, but I have other shit to do!
Im not sure Ive ever seen an entire [comic book] film after the first Batman, so you're talking to a guy who wasnt in the zeitgeist of the whole world. When I went down to Atlanta to do the Marvel things, they'll be doing Marvel movies forever. I'll be dead, and they'll still be doing Marvel movies.
Could Keaton Change His Mind?
Many fans will be displeased to learn that the actor doesn't keep up with one of the many genres that made him a pop culture icon. Could he begin becoming more attuned to the landscape when The Flash is released and he becomes one of the DCEU's most important characters?
Previously, the actor has stated that he was admittedly confused by Marvel's world. At the time, audiences did not know what was the cause of his confusion, but his scene in Morbius revealed that possibility.
Its also a problem with how things have been handled by Warner Bros.. For example, his character had to be replaced in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom due to the delay caused by The Flashes.
So, while he may reprise his role as Batman, the situation has become more tense and complicated, which isnt likely to persuade Keaton to keep fighting through it all.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be released on March 17, 2023, while The Flash will be released three months later, on June 23.
