The Arrowverse at DC Comics is supposedly going to finish in 2023 ...

Many fans have speculated that the Arrowverse is nearing its conclusion since Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow were cancelled by The CW. However, The Flash's continued presence on the network has shown that the interconnected franchise may not be quite there yet.

The Arrowverse was packed with a myriad of shows when it started, but cancellations and storyline discontinuities have slowed the interconnected franchise down in the last few years. After the epic Crisis on Infinite Earths mega-crossover, Arrow, the franchise's pioneer show, ended its run, followed by Melissa Benoist's Supergirl series.

The ending of the Arrowverse as fans know it after Superman and Lois confirmed that the program is set on a different planet.

Season 9 of Grant Gustin's Flash will come to an end.

Eric Wallace, the showrunner for The Flash, made the following statement before the final season:

Nine seasons of saving Central City while guiding viewers on a heartfelt journey filled with humor and spectacle. And nowBarry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race.So many amazing people have given their time and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week with our exciting final chapter. I want to thank all of our amazing cast, writers, producers, and crew for makingThe Flash such an unforgettable experience for viewers throughout the world.

What Will The Arrowverse Be Likely to End?

This latest information regarding The Flash will hopefully cement the end of the Arrowverse, but there's still a good possibility that the interconnected franchise will cross the finish line on a good note.

Given that The CW announced the final season of The Flash ahead of its premiere, there's a good possibility that the Arrowverse will pay tribute not just to Grant Gustin's led series, but to the entire Arrowverse as a whole. During the final season, Arrow paid tribute to Stephen Amell's bow-wielding hero.

It's possible that during Season 9, mini-crossovers with other Arrowverse heroes will happen to allow fans to have a sense of closure with these characters. If these crossovers are not feasible, it's still possible that references to the other programs (canceled or not) will be included to illustrate a resolution to some of those storylines.

At the end of the series, Barry Allen may discover that the Multiverse remains, opening up the possibility for him to reprise his role in Superman and Lois.

The Flash still has some storylines to resolve on its own, despite tributes to the Arrowverse.

The Reverse Flash's death was revealed in the FlashSeason 8, but it also teased the arrival of a new villain from the future that might wreak havoc on Barry Allen and his pals. Additionally, the arrival of Barry and Iris West-Allen's kids might happen in Season 9, with the finale likely confirming that the latter is pregnant.

Many would agree that the Arrowverse had a great run over the years, but unfortunately, all things must come to an end.

Season 9 of The Flash is expected to premiere in 2023.
