Pat Carroll, a long-time funny television personality, Emmy winner for Caesars Hour, and the voice of Ursula in The Little Mermaid, has died. She was 95 years old.

Carroll died on Saturday at her house in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, according to her daughter Kerry Karsian, a casting agent. She wrote on Instagram, expressing her gratitude for having a raucous laugh at anything today (and everyday forward) because, apart from her outstanding talent and love, she leaves my sister Kerry and I with the greatest gift of all, imbuing us with humor and the ability to laugheven in the toughest of situations.

Carroll was born in 1927 in Shreveport, Louisiana, and her family moved to Los Angeles when she was five years old. Her first film role was in 1948's Hometown Girl, but she soon landed a television deal. She was a guest star on The DuPont Show with June Allyson, and a variety show regular on The Danny Kaye Show, The Red Skelton Show, and The Carol Burnett Show.

In the 1965 television adaptation of Rodgers and Hammersteins Cinderella, Elle co-starred with Lesley Ann Warren. She also received a Grammy for the recording of her one-woman show Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein, and Gertrude Stein in 1980.

Carroll has stated that Ursula was one of her favorite roles. She describes herself as an ex-Shakespearean actress who now sells automobiles.

Carroll stated, "People are attracted to mean characters." There is a deadly degree of deviance surrounding the worlds horrific nasty creatures since we dont meet too many of them in real life. So when we get the chance to witness one, and this one is a giant, it's sort of fascinating.

In a number of Little Mermaid sequels, spinoffs, and theme park rides, she was able to reprise her role.

In Hayao Miyazakis My Neighbor Totoro's English-language dub, Carroll also provided Granny's voice.
