Carrie Preston was apprehensive about performing in the spooky film They/Them ...

In the horror film They/Them, Carrie Preston was more than hesitant to assume the role of a ruthless counselor at a gay conversion camp.

In a recent interview, she said, I was so enraged. I thought, oh my goodness, I cannot say these things. These are terrible things to say.

But then I thought, Hey listen, this is what the films are about. It's about the agony of this woman's doing. So the film doesn't work very well if you don't have that, so I was very interested in it.

Kevin Bacon will play Preston's husband, Anna Chlumsky and Theo Germaine in the next slasher film, which follows a group of LGBTQIA+ teens who must face a mysterious killer.

I usually don't get to play the bad guy, according to the actress, 55. I usually play the quirky character or the sweet character, etc. I always like the opportunity to try something new, something that excites me.

The Claws star describes the film as a LGBTQIA+ empowerment horror film.

She continued, It utilizes the horror genre to illuminate the real-life horrors of homosexual conversion, which unfortunately continue to go on in this country in frightening numbers. It's also a really fun, slasher film.

Preston is also playing Kevin Bacons' wife in Space Oddity, which happens to be directed by Bacons' real wife, Kyra Sedgwick, who jokes that Sedgwick and her husband, Lost actor Michael Emerson, have nothing to worry about.

She said she does not believe that they do. Michael and I are quite in love, and we were absolutely in love. Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are like newlyweds. I think they were kind.

Preston and Emerson have been married since 1998, while Bacon and Sedgwick have been going strong since 1988.

Preston has also just directed an episode of The Good Fight in which she plays Elsbeth Tascioni, a recurring character.

(Elsbeth) Youre me, or Youre my sister, or Youre my mother. Whatever it is, those are my stories. Somehow that character has struck a nerve, and I certainly enjoy playing her, as she explained.

Peacock's They/Them will premiere on August 5th.
