Chelsea are expected to sign Tottenham if they secure a 55 million transfer, according to Agbonlahor ...

Gabby Agbonlahor has stated that Tottenham Hotspur is in a better position with the new players, but Chelsea is caught, according to talkSPORT.

The former Premier League striker was referring to Chelsea closing in on the signing of Jules Kounde from Sevilla, a player that was on Tottenham's radar.

After achieving Champions League football the first time out, Antonio Conte has been backed by Daniel Levy in the transfer market this summer.

Richarlison has been his major-money signing after paying 60 million to Everton for his abilities, while someone like Ivan Perisic or Yves Bissouma have been their smart signings.

Chelsea has able to lure Raheem Sterling to Stamford Bridge from the Etihad and have added a hard-hitting defender, Kalidou Koulibaly.

This is what Agbonlahor had to say when it came to Spurs and Chelsea's transfer business as well as the latter closing in on Kounde.

Spurs are in a better position, at the moment, with the signings, according to Agbonlahor.

Chelsea is catching them right away. Koulibaly is a fantastic centre-back. With Thiago Silva, Kounde will complement the defense.

I still think they need a substitute midfielder and striker, but for me, their defense will be fine with Koundes' signing.

CAN SPURS FINISH BELOW CHELSEA?

If Conte had not been in the Spurs' dugout, they would not have secured a top-four finish last season.

Chelsea supporters know all too well, and now those in north London, that the Italian can obtain the absolute finest from everybody.

With a pre-season under his belt, including summer signings Harry Kane and Hisung-Min son, they are being backed to do some things ahead of the new campaign.

Can they come back to Chelsea? Who clinched a third place in the table last time out under Thomas Tuchel?

So, those in blue will probably feel out of all the teams below them, and it's probably Tottenham who have the best chance of overtaking them.
