Dan Ashworth is currently looking for a Newcastle transfer deal, according to a report ...

Newcastle and Dan Ashworth are having a bit of a problem in the transfer market, according to the Chronicle.

Well, the Magpies have been aiming high this summer, although that has seemingly returned.

Newcastle have money to spend, but they have trouble convincing their high calibre prospects to join their club without the intrigue of European football.

Another issue is that clubs are raising their asking prices when Ashworth comes knocking, in recognition of the enormous wealth they have.

Following a number of meetings with Eddie Howe, the 51-year-old is looking for clubs that are willing to sell players.

The 44-year-old wants at least two additional signings before the transfer window closes on September 1st, although it remains to be seen if the Magpies will make any progress in their pursuit of targets.

If the right players are identified, it can certainly be achieved, as seen in the signing of Sven Botman.

With just over a month left of the transfer window, the Magpies must just be careful that they do not waste more time barking up the wrong trees.

Newcastles clogged wallet is proving to be a problem this summer, according to the reports.

Ashworth is the only person who has the ability to give Newcastle their targets.

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, the director of football at Brighton's Amex Stadium, excelled during his time there, making a number of impressive signings that enticed the Magpies to buy the club.

Some claim that Newcastle hired him ahead of Luis Campos, who eventually joined Paris Saint-Germain after being rejected by the Magpies.

Staveley and Ghodoussi have great faith in Ashworth, and we believe Newcastle fans have no need to be worried about his role in this summer's proceedings.
