Ivan Perisic has phoned Tottenham teammate Joe Rodon to ask for his shirt number, according to Football London.
Spurs have just released their squad numbers ahead of the 2022/23 season, with Rodon agreeing to alter his number when Perisic takes his No.14 shirt.
According to Alasdair Gold, the Croatian international actually phoned the Welshman to request the No.14 shirt.
Perisic has worn the No.14 shirt many times throughout his career, and while picking the jersey at Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan clearly has a special significance to the 33-year-old.
Rodon has taken off his No.14 shirt from Swansea for an 11-million move in 2020. It was actually his shirt during his time at the Liberty Stadium.
Perisic should have called Rodon up to request the shirt, rather than get someone from Hotspur Way to arrange it for him.
If the 24-year-old had waited a little longer, the Croatian might not have even needed to call him.
Rodon might be leaving Spurs following a dismal 2021/22 campaign.
Last season, the centre-back played just 87 minutes of Premier League football, including three substitute appearances, and he is believed to be planning to leave Tottenham.
Fulham and Spurs are in discussions about a contract for the Wales international.
Frank Lampard is said to be interested in a deal for Rodon at Everton elsewhere.
Antonio Conte now has Eric Dier, Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez, and Ben Davies to choose from, while linking to Jules Kounde and Alessandro Bastoni suggests the Italian wants another central defender.
Rodon's path into the first-team isn't very clear for him, and we believe it's best for his career that he find a new club this summer after being treated harshly in north London.
