Bid has been rejected, but Paratici is on track to complete one of his finest Tottenham deals ...

An offer of 25 million plus Joe Rodon for Roma wonderkid Nicolo Zaniolo was rejected by Tottenham, but it was only a few million more, and Fabio Paratici would be able to pull off one of his finest contracts as Spurs' transfer director.

Zaniolo, 22, has been in sensational form for Roma since coming back from a lengthy absence due to injury. He played 17 goals in 42 games for Roma last season, under Jose Mourinho.

In the first-ever Europa League final, he scored the winner. A player who can play anywhere in attack, up front with a Harry Kane-like striker, as he has done with Tammy Abraham.

Spurs are in need of a talented player since the sale of Steven Bergwijn has left them lacking in terms of cover, even with Richarlison being added. Antonio Conte has five top-class attacking options, but a sixth is needed.

Rodon's bid for Zaniolo is rejected by Tottenham: One of Paraticis' best players, Javier

Richarlison, Harry Kane, and Son Heung-min are likely to be covered by Lucas Moura and Dejan Kulusevski. Spurs are without a substitute in the final third, and Zaniolos' versatility makes him ideal.

Spurs have submitted a 25 million-plus-Ronon offer, according to reports on Thursday. Roma is a player signed by Mourinho at Tottenham. A reunion is on the cards between the two.

A bid for the player they supposedly want has been rejected, but it is a move that will surely have enraged Roma. Getting a player they want, plus a decent amount of cash for Zaniolo, especially after signing Paulo Dybala on a free transfer.

Paratici simply has to make a second offer. Keep Rodon in the deal, but increase the cash offer by, say, another 5million. He is close to completing what might be his finest contracts since joining Tottenham.
