Ben Jacobs, a CBS journalist who spoke on The Done Deal Show, has been discussing Youri Tielemans' fate as speculation over his future continues.
As he enters the final year of his Leicester City contract, the Belgian has been the subject of much speculation this summer. However, he has yet to secure a new club.
Arsenal has been credited with the most interest so far, and while a move hasn't yet been finalised, Jacobs is led to believe that if Arsenal decides to make a bid, a transaction might be completed in record time.
What has been said?
Jacobs spoke on the Tielemans situation and Arsenal.
The player wants Arsenal, and if Arsenal made an offer, the deal will be concluded relatively quickly, but as of yet, Arsenal havent moved on Tielemans, and we all know that Zinchenko was the priority and that deal is now done, according to Jacobs.
Tielemans has a major decision to make, and he does not want to stay at Leicester, that is my understanding of the situation, and hell will have further discussions on that this week.
Is it appropriate for them to submit a bid?
If Arsenal makes an offer, Tielemans might be able to get through the door quite quickly, but do they really need to sign him?
Granit Xhaka has never been the most consistent player in the Premier League, but, that is a gap that Oleksandr Zinchenko might close when his move is confirmed.
We dont know whether or not Arsenal intends to use Zinchenko as a midfielder or as a left-back as yet, and perhaps the Gunners' pursuit of Tielemans will depend on this fact.
The Belgian would be a great addition to the team, but with Zinchenko expected to sign, this may be a bit unnecessary at the moment.
