Oli McBurnie responds to the most recent Rangers transfer news from Ibrox ...

Ben Davies, a defender for Liverpool, has been signed for a fee of 4 million by Rangers, and Oli McBurnie has responded with a five-word post on his Instagram page.

Davies, 26, has signed a four-year deal with Rangers after failing to make a single appearance for Liverpool since joining the club in January 2021. A surprise move at the time, in the midst of a centre-back crisis at Anfield.

He coached McBurnie on loan at Sheffield United in the 2021-22 season. He was a member of a Blades team that advanced to the Championship play-offs only to lose in the semi-finals.

After being previously linked with Celtic, Bassey has moved north of the border to Rangers. In a move confirmed by the Dutch giants, the deal was worth an initial 19.5 million, rising to 22.5 million with add-ons.

A club record sale for the Rangers, surpassing the previous record in Nathan Pattersons' move to Everton. McBurnie, a well-known Rangers fan, responded to Davies' arrival, posting a five-word reply on Instagram.

McBurnie has replied, saying that Rangers have completed the signing of Davies.

Is Davies really that good as Bassey? No. Is he anything like Bassey? No. But Davies certainly provides Rangers with a left-footed centre-back that at 4million, is fantastic value for money.

Davies has made 271 club appearances, including 145 against Preston. Excellent in the air, superb on the ball, and despite his height, he has been used on the left side of the defence at times.

So, while he isn't quite as good as Bassey, he's still a long way off. Davies is a fantastic signing, even if he's the second choice to John Souttar to begin with, alongside Connor Goldson. What do you expect from Filip Helander and Niko Katic?
