Tottenham Hotspur has been one of England's busiest teams this summer.
The north London outfit has signed no less than six players in this transfer window, and a seventh announcement may be made very shortly.
Alasdair Gold has claimed that Spurs are planning to announce that Cristian Romero has signed a permanent contract, although it's not a huge new addition.
Recently, a journalist commented on his YouTube channel about Romero's permanent joining and Tottenham's decision.
Have the Romero announcement as soon as possible. It was one of those situations where I wondered whether or not it would just naturally become a permanent fixture, but I understand that Spurs are hoping to make some sort of announcement, but keep an eye on it, Gold said.
At this point, this is all a formality. Romero joined the club last summer on loan with an obligation to purchase, and for all intents and purposes, he is a Tottenham Hotspur player.
He has been with the club during the pre-season and is expected to be a member of the squad this coming season, although there has been no official announcement on this front.
A deal is on the way, and while Romero may not be the most exciting signing the Spurs make this summer, he may well be the best.
Romero, who has been dubbed as the greatest footballer by Jonathan Woodgate, excelled in the Premier League last season, demonstrating why he won the Serie A Defender of the Year award in 2021.
None of the new Spurs signings are at Romeros level, at least not yet, and he is a young, talented defender who has shown his potential in the Premier League.
If Spurs signed another player like Romero this summer, the fanbase would be at an all-time high, and while we understand the lack of support for a loan becoming a permanent move, it is worthwhile to point out that this could end up being Spurs' best acquisition of the summer.
