Over the years, Better Call Saul has prompted audiences to think about many things.
It is a great complement and prequel to the legendary Breaking Bad, dealing with critical topics, from ethics to corruption.
Gustavo Fring, the head of Los Pollos Hermanos and a secret drug lord, has been invited to reveal his past over the course of the season 6 episode 9 entitled Fun and Games, which provides an insight unlike any previous.
Of course, we were talking about the setting at the restaurant. Nonetheless, some people have questioned whether the Cote-Rotie wine used in Better Call Saul is genuine.
Is the Better Call Saul wine Cote-Rotie genuine?
Yes, the wine Gus drinks is real. It's a bottle of Rostaing Cote-Rotie La Landonne. A 1978 bottle, to be precise.
Gus arrives alone at a restaurant bar and the bartender offers him a glass of wine. However, David (played by Reed Diamond) interrupts his solitary evening, causing Gus to be enthralled.
Mr Fring, it's always nice to see you, says the he. It's been a while since they've shown us that they have a prior connection.
Gus replies, yes, it's too long. David then presents a bottle of wine and begins to explain its opening that very night.
He asks for a glass and performs his tasting ritual before revealing its remarkable flavor. So he orders this, takes one sip, then sends it back for a rum and coke. Diet coke. but, your loss is certainly your gain.
My passion for wine is second to none. Also in lovers. #BetterCallSaul
Where can I buy Rostaing Cote-Rotie La Landonne?
The first thing you'll want to get out of is a stunning 1978 bottle.
On the Berry Bros & Rudd website, 2017 bottles of Rostaing Cote-Rotie La Landonne are available for purchase for $1136.25 per bottle.
The website has a description, although it may not sell you on the wine as well as Davids' pitch to Gus:
Five vintners have shared their land. The nose reveals youthful bramble fruit with heady violets creeping through. The palate is textured and muscular, the dark blackberry fruit with a hint of pepper and iron.
Not only that, the wine's finish is long and the tannins are fine, enhancing the wine's finesse. BBR advises to drink between 2022 and 2042.
On Wine-Searcher, bottles are also available for $91.37 (112).
A spin-off is required.
For a wide variety of reasons, the wine scene has gotten quite popular with consumers. On Twitter, there have been a wide range of reactions.

I didnt realize I needed a 5 minute conversation with Gustavo Fring on wine, yet here I am. I need a spin-off. #BetterCallSaul
The Gus wine scene is fantastic. It demonstrates:His intention to poison the cartel with alcohol, his struggle to recover from his past, and his inability to stay grounded after the Lalo threat faded his sexuality permanently.
My brain is trying to decipher what the wine scene implies #BetterCallSaul pic.twitter.com/MWpw9A8CEl
Gus Fring's conversation at the wine bar was causing the character to realize that he might have chosen love, but instead he chose hatred, and in doing so, he planted the seeds of his own destruction. #BetterCallSaul
