Rangers record sale: Ajax confirm that they will send to Ibrox to sign Bassey ...

Rangers are paying a record amount to lure Calvin Bassey away from Ajax, according to a press release on their official website. Nathan Pattersons' departure also confirms Rangers are paying a record amount.

Patterson joined Everton for a 16 million-euro fee in January, but Basseys is well above that figure. In the 2021-22 season, Bassey, born in Italy, played 50 games for the Rangers, who reached the Europa League final.

Bassey, who will wear the no.33 shirt at Ajax, has signed a five-year deal with the Dutch champions. He will take the place of Lisandro Martinez, who has joined Manchester United this summer.

Ajax have provided a statement on their website that they are paying for the service. The initial 19.5 million will be sent directly to the Ibrox coffers, with the possibility of 3 million more in performance-related add-ons.

Ajax have confirmed how much they are paying Rangers for Bassey.

Bassey is getting paid an enormous sum, yet the Rangers deserve him. While he is playing for a Scottish club, which can ultimately reduce the value given the league's standard, his European performances reap the rewards.

defenders are seldom as costly as attackers, but Rangers' top-five most-expensive sales are all defenders Bassey, Patterson, manager Gio van Bronckhorst, Alan Hutton, and Jean-Alain Boumsong.

Rangers have the chance to invest heavily in other areas of their squad, notably, since they have already replaced Bassey for just 4million in the form of Liverpool defender Ben Davies.
