Wes Anderson is already working on his next feature film, which is called Asteroid City, which will be released shortly by Focus Features and Indian Paintbrush.
Here is how a press release explains the Anderson and Roman Coppola's premise:
ASTEROID CITY is a poetic meditation on life's meaning. It tells the tale of a fictional American desert town circa 1955 and its Junior Stargazer convention, which brings together students and parents from across the country for scholarly competition, rest/recreation, comedy, drama, romance, and more.
So, that sounds like a Wes Anderson film for sure.
The name stars in the film Asteroid City include Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Rupert Friend, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Aristou Meehan, Ethan Lee, Jeff Goldblum, and Rita Wilson, according to the press release.
Andersons 11th film in a 25-year career is Asteroid City. While he has become one of the most popular arthouse directors of his generation, he has made only one film that grossed more than $100 million. (His second highest-grossing film isThe Royal Tenenbaums, which grossed $71.4 million worldwide.)
