After the sheer delight of Season 2, followers are eager to see the next installment of the Netflix series. Thankfully, there arent many will Netflix renew my favorite TV show or give it the ax situations because more Bridgerton has already been confirmed. Given how Season 1 captivated viewers (the show casually became Netflixs biggest hit ever and won 11 Emmy nominations), it makes sense that fans were already clamoring for Seasons 3 and 4, long before they saw Season 2.
Season 1 followed Daphne on her search for a suitor (based on the first book, The Duke and I), and Season 2 covered Anthony's quest for a Viscountess (based on the next book, The Viscount Who Loved Me). The third season, according to Bridgerton fans, would follow Benedict Bridgerton, the protagonist of the third novel, An Offer from a Gentleman, as he falls for two women.
Here's all we know about Bridgerton Season 3 and how it might go about extending the Colin and Penelopes arc in the series.
Season 3 of Bridgerton The plot
Colin and Penelope were saying their final goodbyes towards the end of Season 1. Penelope always encouraged Colin to travel as she encouraged him to. Unbeknown to him, Penelope was on the verge of her very own I burn for you love declaration. Ultimately, he left for his adventures undead.
Marina Thompson isnt a major character in the book, although she was a serious contender for Colin's love in Season 1. However, in Season 2, Penelope was able to express her true feelings for the longtime family pal, but towards the end of Season 2, she overheard him saying there is no chance he'd ever pursue her. Ouch! Well, just have to wait and see how Penelope recovers from that.
At the start of Season 3s production on July 20, Netflix finally revealed further information about Colin and Penelope's friends-to-lovers journey.
The third installment in Julia Quinn's novel will make a significant shift from Season 1. It appears like Bridgerton draws inspiration from Season 1's romance with Colin and Penelope conspiring together to find her a husband, much like Simon and Daphne conspired together to try to land her a prince. However, as in the rest of Quinn's books, expect to see some steamy moments.
Season 3 Trailer for Bridgerton
The cast of Bridgerton's third season premiered a behind-the-scenes video, revealing both Colins and Penelope's new faces for the third season. In a nod to the book's famous (and hilarious) scene, Luke hops into the carriage with Nicola.
Season 3 of Bridgerton Cast
Season 3 will likely not require any major cast changes because the romantic leads we already know and admire: Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan play playful Colin and lovelorn Penelope (thought not for Rege-Jean Page, who announced Simons' retirement ahead of Season 2).
Jonathan Bailey (Anthony) and Simone Ashley (Kate) have both stated that their characters would be back in the future in separate interviews that followed the release of Season 2. Bailey stated that fans should get to see them as amazing and caring parents in an interview with Harpers Bazaar. Luke Thompson is expected to reprise his role as the artistic Bridgerton brother in Season 4.
Claudia Jessie announced that she will return to play the defiant Eloise in Season 3, according to her Instagram stories on May 16. I'm just as excited as I am for the quantity of Eloise content we'll get as a result of her (ex) best friend being the lead.
Hannah Dodd will take over as Francesca Bridgerton from Ruby Stokes, who has left the series to take over as the lead on another Netflix project, Lockwood & Co. Dodd recently starred as a young Sienna Miller in the miniseries Flowers in the Attic: The Origins.
Three new characters will join the network on July 20. According to a press release, Daniel Francis (Stay Close) will play Marcus Anderson, who is described as a charismatic figure who lights up any room he enters. Lord Debling will also be introduced this season; Sam Phillips (The Crown) will portray the genial lord with unusual interests. Harry Dankworth will be played by James Phoon (Wreck).
After working in Shondaland for years, Jess Brownell will take the lead as showrunner for Season 3 of Deadline. She has also penned several episodes of Scandal.
Release Date Speculation for Bridgerton Season 3
Season 3 of Bridgerton hasn't been released yet, but there's reason to hope for a shorter wait than the first two seasons. Season 2 was hampered by public health filming interruptions, but it appears like Season 3 will not face the same challenges as Season 2, which may be released early 2023.
As more information on Bridgerton Season 3 becomes available, this post will update with the trailer, release date, and additional plot details.
