Jurgen Klopp gives an honest verdict on Rangers' wooing Ben Davies to Ibrox ...

Ben Davies has been signed by Rangers, and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp appears to be unable to envision a better move for the defender.

Davies joined Preston North End again in February 2021, causing controversy among supporters.

The Reds were going through a defensive injury crisis and apparently believed Davies was worth a gamble in the final six months of his Preston contract.

Davies was never expected to be a first-team player, but he has left Liverpool without ever making a first-team appearance.

The left-sided centre back spent the last season on loan at Sheffield United, but has now left the club on a permanent basis.

Ben Davies has been signed by the Rangers.

Davies has moved up to Scotland to join Rangers, signing a four-year deal with Giovanni van Bronckhorsts.

Calvin Bassey, a talented defender, will be lost to Ajax in a deal worth more than 20million.

Rangers need a left-sided centre back to fill Basseys' position, and they have chosen Davies as their forward.

The Gers are paying only 3 million for Davies' 1 million add-ons, allowing them to have plenty of money to play with after the Basey sale.

Davies will now be hoping to settle down at Rangers and return to playing his best football, as he did at Preston.

Davies was presented to the Rangers faithful on Tuesday night as Van Bronckhorsts men secured a 3-1 pre-season victory over West Ham United.

The 26-year-old may never have played for Liverpool, but he departs with the blessing and admiration of manager Jurgen Klopp.

The German said on Liverpool's official website that he thinks Davies' departure is a fantastic move, as Rangers are a fantastic and impressive club.

Klopp stated that his honest opinion is that Van Bronckhorst's recruitment is smart and that the move is ideal for everyone, adding that Rangers have signed a defender with a top drawer skill.

Rangers is a fantastic club, a huge club, and Ben deserves to be on a large stage in terms of his character and composure. As a person, he's as good a guy as you'd expect to meet.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's recruitment is a smart move, to be honest, and ideal for all parties. He is an accomplished defender who is entering his senior years and who has a great analytical ability. We wish Ben everything but the best for his future and will follow him through the rest of his career.
