Bloomberg Learned About Apple's Plans To Release A Computer With Its Processor In 2021
Apple intends to launch Macintosh computers with its own processor in 2021, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing sources familiar with the situation.
Currently, the company is working on creating three types of processors for the Macintosh. These are single-chip systems developed on the basis of the A14 processor (this processor will be used in the iPhone 12 line, which Apple is due to introduce later in 2020).
The new processors will work much faster than those installed in the current iPhone and iPad, Agency sources say. Bloomberg also draws attention to the fact that Apple's plans to use processors of its own design mean that the company intends to begin to abandon the Intel processors that it currently uses in its devices.
The new processors for Apple computers will be developed by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), which previously worked with Apple Corporation. Several sources told the Agency on the condition of anonymity.
The new chips will be 5-nanometer, that is, the same size as those that the company plans to use in its new iPhone and iPad Pro said one of the interlocutors Bloomberg. Apple declined to comment on plans to release new products, as did Intel and TSMC.
