As the Emirates' defender completes his leave, Jack Wilshere and Arsenal players react ...

Zak Swanson has completed a permanent move to League One Portsmouth from Arsenal, causing the likes of Jack Wilshere and many Arsenal Under-21 players to react to the defenders' Instagram post.

Swanson, 21, leaves Arsenal after 15 years, joining the club at the tender age of just six. While he made the bench on numerous occasions for the first team, he failed to make a senior appearance for the Gunners.

Instead, he played 32 times for the Premier League 2 side, including a short loan in the Netherlands with Masstricht. He has now left Arsenal for a strong Portsmouth side.

Swanson announced the news via an Instagram post. He expressed his delight at joining Pompey, who will aim to finish in the third tiers top six following a tenth-placed finish during the 2021-22 season.

Swanson, who is capable of playing at right-back, left-back, or in the middle of the defence, has made a fantastic move.

Swanson will have the opportunity to demonstrate what he is capable of at Arsenal and other clubs. His career, at least at senior level, starts now. Regular football is an added bonus.

Jack Wilshere expressed his thanks to the defender in his Instagram post, as did a number of his Arsenal Under-21 teammates, many of whom have sincedeparted, including Harry Clarke.
