The Summer I Turned Pretty is returning for Season 2 this year ...

The Summer I Turned Pretty isn't enough, and after having watched the Prime Video series a ridiculous number of times since it launched on June 17, you'll probably have one main concern: Will Cousins Beach and the romantic, flirty, and funny characters who live on it return for Season 2? The answer is yes. (Note: Spoilers for Season 1 are ahead.)

Season 2 of HBO has been confirmed.

According to Deadline, Amazon Studios knew how much people would like the Jenny Hans YA series, and this is why they renewed it for Season 2 before Season 1 was even premiered. Together with showrunners Han and Sarah Kucserka, the two will also serve as executive producers alongside Gabrielle Stanton and Karen Rosenfelt and wiips Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee.

Han told Variety on June 8 that he expects the show to run for more than one season. I am so grateful to Amazon Studios for this amazing confidence in our show, and I look forward to bringing our incredible team back together to tell the next chapter in our story.

What will be the focus of Season 2?

We can only assume that Season 2 will follow the same narrative as the first one from 2009's The Summer I Turned Pretty book: It's Not Summer Without You.

Belly's journey continues with Simon & Schuster. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come again. But then Jeremiah comes calling saying Conrad has gone. And Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. The last summer at Cousins Beach should end the way it began.

Well Always Have Summer is a third book in the series, and you may get a Season 3 of the program as well!

Who will be cast in Season 2?

Lola Tung as Belly, Chistopher Briney as Conrad, Gavin Casalegno as Jermiah, Rachel Blanchard as Susannah, Jackie Chung as Laurel, and Sean Kaufman as Steven are likely to play all of the cast members in Season 2.

The cast of E! revealed that they were eager to learn more about Season 2, ranging from Tung's thoughtful reply, Briney's blunt reply, to Casalegnos' heartfelt response, to Kaufman's gentle attitude in an interview with the station on June 24.

"There are a lot of really special moments in this book," Tung said. "I'm very excited to see Belly's relationship with both of the boys and with everyone in her life. She can only continue to grow and go on this journey, and I'm very excited to go on it with her."

Briney adds, "I want to see Conrad be a jerk at prom." I want to see him be rude.

Casalegno wants more flashbacks. "I think the flashbacks would be a great experience. Being able to look forward to how a book was written and trying to translate it into a series, and also include it in the changes that were made for season one from book one is really exciting."

Kaufman summed it up, saying, "To be honest, I have no expectations. I think all of us trust Jenny to the greatest extent. We know that whatever she's got preparing in that lab, it's worth it."

When will Season 2 be released?

The Summer I Turned Pretty was announced in February 2021, and it premiered on June 17, 2022. It's quite probable that Season 2 will not take as long to come out. Most likely, it'll return in Summer 2023.
