Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel Studios' most recent theatrical release, sees the titular Master of the Mystic Arts thrown into an interdimensionalmess. He meets America Chavez, a youngster who has the ability to penetrate other universes via punch holes in space. As it turns out, Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, was chasing America after her.

Strange and Chavez discover themselves looking for the Book of Vishanti on Earth-838. There they meet the Illuninati, a group of powerful superheroes who meet to make decisions that shape their destiny. Professor Charles Xavier, a Variant of Strange's nemesis, is recreated once more by Sir Patrick Stewart.

Charles has traded in his classic wheelchair for a hoverchair that is very similar to the one used in the early 90s in X-Men: The Animated Series.

A new featurette, 'Constructing the Multiverse,' from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' digital home release, shows how Charles Xavier's hoverchair was filmed. As one can see, only the top portion of the chair was created as a physical prop, with the rest being filled in with digital effects.

The X-Men Theme Increases Your Interest in the X-Men Theme

Professor Xavier, from Stewart's filmsDays of Future Past, used a hoverchair previously, but it almost looked like a floating harness, and it wasn't quite the same as the big yellow transport modes popular in the classic cartoon.

The animated X-Men theme plays out as Xavier rises to his seat on the balcony, further illustrating that this is all meant to be a thoughtful homage to the 1990s television series.

Xavier's screentime was short-lived, in part because a Darkhold-corrupted Wanda snaps his neck as he attempts to help her. Stewart has stated that he may make more Marvel appearances as his iconic character.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness from Marvel Studios is now available on Disney+ and will be available for digital home release on Tuesday, July 26.
