After making a racial slur during a live-stream, Formula 2 driver Juri Vips has been suspended with immediate effect by the Red Bull Racing team.
After the 21-year-old Estonian driver was accused of using a slur in a Twitch live-stream, Red Bull Racing is set to investigate the driver''s third F2 season.
Who is Juri Vips?
Vips is a racing driver who competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with the Hitech Grand Prix. He is the 2017 ADAC Formula 4 champion and is currently in the Red Bull Racing Junior Team.
In 2021, the young driver, who hails from Estonia, won two wins and six podiums in the FIA F2 Championship. He also won the F1 Young Driver Test with Red Bull Racing in Abu Dhabi.
Vips is a keen gamer who often participates in games while streaming on Twitch.
What did Juri Vips say?
When he made the racist scare, Vips was playing Call of Duty with other players, including Liam Lawson, a fellow Red Bull Racing junior driver.
During the live-stream, Sky Sports said Vips used the n-word.
Vips expressed his gratitude for using the slur in an Instagram post, claiming that he intends to fully cooperate with the investigation Red Bull Racing will conduct following the driver suspension.
