During an internal Toon transfer talks, Dean Jones told Give Me Sport that Eddie Howe has recommended Newcastle forward Nathan Ake, a player who Jones believes is adored.
According to reports earlier this week, Newcastle intend to sign Ake, who has managed just 40 appearances in two seasons since leaving Bournemouth where he played under Howe to join the Pep Guardiolas side.
Newcastle are finding it difficult to justify spending that amount, but Chelsea are also considering bringing him back to Stamford Bridge, after losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
While the price might be too much for Newcastle, Howe has recommended to his club that Ake be brought in. It is likely that his recommendation will be directed towards Ashworth.
Howe loves him, he''s had him on his mind for a while. He advised him as a signing for the summer, and hes potentially available. So if anything starts to happen with Ake, Newcastle will probably be in the conversation.
Howe has recommended Newcastle sign Ake
Ake would be a fantastic addition. A left-footed centre-back, who is well-known in the Premier League, and a defender who knows Howe. If Newcastle cannot secure Lilles Sven Botman, it is the perfect defender signing.
Newcastle are now ready to walk away from the negotiations table. If so, Ake would be the next best thing. However, Manchester City would have to pay a huge asking price.
Newcastle, which has only played 40 times in two seasons, has agreed to a deal worth 40 million euros. It''s an excellent business.
