As he seeks for Crystal Palace's move, the 21 million star is refusing a new deal ...

Crystal Palace have agreed personal terms with Cheick Doucoure, and according to La Voix du Nord, the Premier League-bound enforcer is now refusing to prolong his contract with RC Lens.

Peut-etre should it come as no surprise.

A certain Harry Kane will explain all of the difficulties of signing a long-term arrangement, which is sure to tie you down for a number of years while strengthening the club you want to leave.

Doucoure, one of the most promising young talents to come out of the self-professed League of Talents, is holding all the cards as things go. In contrast to Kane. His current contract expires in the summer of 2024.

No wonder the Mali international has no intentions to prolong his contract.

Especially if you consider this summer is perhaps the last chance Lens will have to obtain a substantial amount for their prized asset. Doucoure will be entering the final 12 months of his contract, his market value significantly falling. The year after that, he will be available for free.

While finding an adequate replacement would be easier than done, it certainly makes sense to cash in on Doucoure right now. According to La Voix du Nord, the one-time Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur target has already agreed personal terms with Crystal Palace.

Patrick Vieiras is expected to be the number one summer target for Doucoure. The Palace boss is reportedly disgusted about the man mountain midfielder, who is convinced that a player of Doucoures energy, skill, and power has everything he needs to do in English football''s hustle and bustle.

According to Marseille legend Eric Roy, he is one of the best number sixes defence in Ligue 1.

He has everything to do in this position: an extraordinary football IQ, a fantastic first touch, technical ability, and he recovers a lot of balls. And, he is a youngster with an incredible desire to excel. With him, you cant go wrong.

Accepting terms with Doucoure is a difficult task, however.

The Voix du Nord claims that French footballers perennial competitors want around 21 million people. According to Goal, Crystal Palaces'' most recent offer 14.5 million fell a long short of that.
