According to The Athletic, Leeds United will try to move Kiko Casilla this summer, and one way in which they might move him off the books is by paying off his contract.

The Spanish goalkeeper has only one year left on his Leeds United contract, but it''s very unlikely that this season at Elland Road.

Casilla isn''t a fan favourite at Elland Road. He was found guilty of racially abusing Jonathan Leko back in 2019, but his poor performances on the pitch also led him to lose his position as Leeds'' number one goalkeeper.

Despite all of this, Casilla is on the books at Leeds, and for a long time, he was a favorite of Marcelo Bielsa, who is labelled the goalkeeper as extremely beneficial during his time at the club.

Bielsa has died right now, and it appears like Jesse Marsch will not have any use for the goalkeeper in the Champions League, so much so that he might be released by Leeds.

Casilla spent last season on loan at Elche, and in an ideal world, Leeds would be able to sort out another loan or a permanent transfer for the Spaniard, but failing that, he might be permitted to leave on a free transfer after a payout.

Casilla was signed with a lot of enthusiasm back in January 2019, but he is likely to leave the club without a good farewell.

It remains to be seen where Casilla will play next, but one thing seems to be very certain, and he will not play again for Leeds.
