Crystal Palace have asked for Srdjan Babic''s availability as the Eagles seek to bring him to the Premier League, according to AS.

Getafe have also contactd Almeria, a 26-year-old youngster, who stands at 6ft 5in.

Interestingly, Getafe have already made a 4 million (3 million) bid for Babic, although it was approved by Crystal Palace.

However, the Serbian is unlikely to cost an eye-watering amount.

AS believes Almeria will sell for less than 10 million (9 million), which shouldn''t be a problem for the south Londoners.

Babic''s interest comes after he made 43 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring one goal, and also picking up 11 yellow cards.

With James Tomkins in reserve, the centre-back will compete with Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen at Selhurst Park.

With Guehi and Andersen already making a solid partnership at the back, you might be wondering why Patrick Vieira does not want another central defender in SE25.

It might, according to our view, indicate a formation change.

According to The Sun, Vieira is planning to use a three-at-the-back form more often next season, so Babic, who is interestingly left-footed, might play on the backline.

Both Guehi and Andersen are right-footed, thus Crystal Palace are looking for a left-footer to balance their backline ahead of transitioning to a three-man defense.

In the centre-back division, Vieira does not have a single left-footed option, although Jairo Riedewald has previously played in this position.

Crystal Palace also wants to sign Chelsea prospect Levi Colwill, a new left-footed central defender, on the basis of his suggestion.

Bear an eye on this aspect, as the Eagles can certainly afford to invest 9 million dollars on Babic.
