In their UEFA Nations League Group B match on Wednesday night, Ireland suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ukraine, and the Irish Examiner has been exceedingly slammed against Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher giving him 5/10.

Ireland won the match against Aviva after losing their opening Nations League outing against Armenia on the weekend, putting them in a position position. Kelleher was given his sixth cap.

Viktor Tsygankov, a Dynamo Kiev winger, got the goal for Ukraine to curl a free-kick from a cross position into the box. It evaded everyone, including Kelleher, and ended up in the back of the net.

The defence was certainly suspect, but Kelleher, 23, was a statue-like on his goal line, and the Irish Examiner has criticized the Liverpool manager for failing to keep it out, earning only 5/10 points.

The visitors were not upset with shots over the 90 minutes. Had no chance for Taras Kacharabas to miss the goal. However, Tsygankovs scored for the 48th minute, both in position and decision making.

Liverpool''s goalkeeper Kelleher has been criticised by Irish media.

It is one of those matches. A free-kick with plenty of whip and dip is sent into the box. That path of uncertainty, a nightmare for defensive coordinators, and a question of courage for goalkeepers. Do they deal with it?

Kelleher decided to take the lead. But likes of Shane Duffy or John Egan could not get to the ball, and it ended up curling off the field and into the back of the net. A shame for her.

For that moment, Kelleher was strong. Ukraine had not erroneously triggered him other than the delaying goal. Several people might examine the goal and say it was Kelleher''s fault, but it happens here and there.

Kelleher has admitted that he would leave Liverpool this summer, but this will not do him in any way.
