CBS journalist Ben Jacobs talks about Liverpool and their apparent interest in Christian Pulisic on The Done Deal Show.
As Sadio Mane prepares to return to Bayern Munich, the Reds will need to replace him if Mane passes.
Liverpool have recently been linked with a move for Pulisic, and according to Jacobs, Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the Chelsea striker, with the German believing that the winger has a lot of potential.
This information was quickly poured cold water, stating that he asked a senior source within the club about their interest, and it was dismissed as nonsense.
Whats been said?
Pulisic and Liverpool are discussed by Jacobs.
I think if Pulisic is to leave Chelsea, he will go to Serie A rather than to another team in the Premier League. Klopp, who is in charge of politics, is an admirer, and knows the potential, but Jacobs believes that he is not considering himself as Liverpool''s replacement.
I was able to give my attention to a Liverpool source at a very senior level, but I thought it was inappropriate for Liverpool to take this into account in terms of Mane or beyond the context of Mane.
Better out there
With all of his respect for Pulisic, he isn''t enough to replace Sadio Mane.
At this point, Mane has been one of the Premier League''s deadliest attackers for years, and he is a Golden Boot winner who averages double figures in every season.
After three seasons with Chelsea, Pulisic has just 19 league goals to his name, and, quite simply, it''s not what Liverpool will be looking for from their Mane replacement.
Pulisic is very capable, although he isn''t the right fit for the Reds right now.
