CBS journalist Ben Jacobs talks about Gareth Bale and some improbable links to Newcastle United on The Done Deal Show.
Real Madrid has just left the Welsh winger, and he is free to join any other club as a free agent.
Bale has been linked with every club under the sun from Cardiff City to Getafe, and in fact, the name Newcastle has risen.
According to Jacobs, the link between Bale and Newcastle has been directly linked with Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the chairman of Real Madrid, who enjoyed seeing Bale at Real Madrid and would like to see a marquee name come to Tyneside.
Whats been said?
Jacobs spoke about Bale and Newcastle.
Gareth Bale has been a bit linked to Newcastle, but there have been 100 other clubs, and I remember seeing Bale at Real Madrid, and many of them believed him. However, Yasir Al-Rumayyan admitted that the relationship between Bale and Newcastle is strong, and Newcastle has no active approach.
Marquee
If Newcastles chairman wants a marquee signing, then he cant do much better than Gareth Bale.
A five-time Champions League winner, he is one of footballs well-known stars, and at the age of 32, he still has a lot to offer.
Dan Ashworth and Amanda Staveley probably don''t see things the same way so far. Newcastle haven''t succeeded these huge names yet, and as weve seen at Madrid, Bale isn''t always the most effective footballer ever.
Newcastle would be a blockbuster move, but as the January window showed, it''s unlikely that they will succeed.
