SAN FRANCISCO(BUSINESS WIRE)June 7, 2022

Kira Learning has announced a $6 million seed capital from New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Dr. Andrew Ngs AI Fund to help develop a choice solution for K-12 schools and districts seeking advanced standards-aligned computer science courses for all learners. This summer, Kira Learnings'' first micro-course will orient 9th grade students from an introduction to programming principles to developing a neural network.

We are looking forward to providing an opportunity for a fresh generation of learners to take advantage of the benefits of Computer Science and AI. Andrea Pasinetti, the founder and CEO of Kira Learning, believes computer science education will be a fundamental requirement for all K-12 learners in the next five years. It is vital for districts, schools, and students to have an equal access to industry-aligned learning opportunities.

Dr. Ng artificial intelligence pioneer, leading Google Brain, Kira Learning Chairman, and one of the world''s most well-known computer science educators, is working with the team to design and teach Kira Learnings'' introductory K-12 artificial intelligence course.

Computing will be a central part of our children''s lives and careers, similar to English and Math. This shift will be a major challenge for schools and school systems already weakened by post-pandemic learning loss and teacher shortages, according to Dr. Andrew Ng. Kira Learning is developing what I believe will be the best approach for educators and administrators looking for standards-coordinated curriculum, content, and learning tools.

Andrea Pasinetti, the founder and CEO of Kira Learning, is a first-generation American entrepreneur, engineer, and graduate of Stanford''s MBA program. He is expected to graduate Stanford''s AI and systems program, with extensive international knowledge.

As the founder and CEO of Teach For China, Pasinetti spent a decade establishing equitable, accessible, and quality education pathways for tens of thousands of students in rural China. Teach For China has placed more than 2,700 teaching fellows in 389 high-need schools across five rural Chinese provinces.

"It''s extremely important to us," says Carmen Chang, NEA''s General Partner, and chairman and head Asia. Andrea has known him for some time, and we believe in his exceptional abilities and potential. For Andrea to develop an education company, combined with his passion and creativity, is something for us.
