The MCU is in the final stages of preparation for director Taika Waititi''s Thor: Love and Thunder, the second of three MCU movies to air this year. With both Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman''s heroes wreaking havoc on Thor''s hand, the MCU is developing a fascinating new story to learn both on Earth and throughout the cosmos.
The studio has recently released the second full trailer for Thor 4, which gives viewers a sense of what Portman will be up to now that she''s become worthy of using Mjolnir for good. However, this doesn''t necessarily mean that Jane will take over the Thor role for good, and her impact will be felt as she reunites with her ex-boyfriend in this new solo story.
Both characters with the same mantle does not mean that they''ll fight exactly the same way, beyond Hemsworth''s hero wielding Stormbreaker and Portman''s being worth of Mjolnir.
The filmmaker of the sequel explained more on how these differences will make each hero unique in their own right.
Differences in Portman & Hemsworth''s Fighting Styles
Taika Waititi, star of Thor: Love and Thunder, talks about how Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman''s Thors differ in terms of fighting styles in the latest issue of Total Film.
When asked where Jane Foster''s Thor is on the cool scale, Waititi spoke for many Marvel fans who consider Mighty Thor "incredibly cool"
She''s right there. I mean, everyone who has read those comics would agree that Mighty Thor is extraordinarily cool.
Portman''s acting style has been described as "facilitating when she fights," according to Waititi. Although it''s not the same as the original Thor from Hemsworth, Thor''s is in combat in his own ways, they''re both cool:
The fight style is completely different to Thors. Natalie has obviously danced and done ballet and things. Its got a sense of dance when she fights. She is very precise and smooth. Chris is very well-rounded.
Portman Brings Her Own Style as Thor
Given that Jane Foster and Thor have been together for over a decade, it only makes sense that Jane''s fighting style would be something different from what fans have seen with Chris Hemsworth for years.
While Hemsworth''s Thor is mostly based on size and strength in his fights, Natalie Portman''s will bring something new with Waititi''s dancing style of combat. Even though Jane is more bulked up now for her new role; Mjolnir showed some pretty useful skills with the broken shards as she wiped out her enemies.
As Portman''s new version of Jane Foster continues to excel, more of these differences will be revealed in Thor 4''s full length, but the excitement is already expanding to see what she will do with her new god-like abilities. Throw that on top of a complicated relationship with Mjolnir''s former wielder and a personal battle with cancer, and it will tell for an interesting story both from an action perspective and an emotional standpoint.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters on July 8th.
