Where is Stranger Things Season 4set?
As we discussed above, Season 4 ofStranger Things is all over the map. In the wake of Eleven losing her telekinetic powers and all of the trauma Will experienced back in Hawkins, Joyce has taken her children Will and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) and Eleven with him in a move to sunny Southern California. Hopper, however, reportedly ended his attempt to save Eleven in the Season 3 finale, but his actual reality is grim, considering he is being imprisoned deep in Russian territory.
Everyone else is back in the familiar fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, where new things and possibilities come by way of the kids starting high school.
Where was Stranger Things Season 4 filmed?
There are already some clues about Hawkins, but so the scenes in Atlanta, Georgia, as they were for the previous three seasons. On the back of California and Russia, however, things get interesting.
The California-set scenes were actually filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, while the Russian scenes were shot in Vilnius, Lithuania. While the scenes that take place at Eleven and Wills'' fictional Californian Lenora Hills High School were actually filmed at Albuquerques Eldorado High School, while other California moments were captured at the Albuquerques Roller King skating rink, as well as in and around Los Lunas, New Mexico.
For that added meaning of Eastern European prisoneration, Hoppers jail scenes were shot in Lithuania''s centuries old (though no longer operational) Lukiskes Prison, while other Russian scenes were shot in and around a wintery Vilnius.
Season 4, Volume 1, of Stranger Things, is now available on Netflix.
