The Documentary for Johnny Depp and Amber is coming to Discovery ...

Discovery+ has commissioned a two-part documentary on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Optomen is directing the double-bill project titled Johnny vs. Amber, which outlines the story of Depp and Heard''s turbulent relationship from one perspective.

According to Variety, the doc will include interviews from lawyers involved in Depp and Heard''s divorce, as well as sources close to the ex-couple. Depp and Heard''s photographs and audio recordings will be also closely reviewed.

Heard, an actress known for her breakthrough roles in Pineapple Express and herportrayal of Mera in the DCEU, filed for divorce from Depp in 2016. She alleges that Depp had abused her for a significant part of their relationship, causing Depp to retaliate by filing a lawsuit against her for defamation.

The story of what happened between Johnny and Amber remains hugely divisive, as explainedCharlotte Reid, the head of Discovery. We decided to produce a documentary that would explore the story from each perspective, so the viewer may go beyond the headlines, understand who they are, and choose who they will trust in this complex human story.

Nick Hornby, the documentary''s co-CEO, highlighted the key goal of revealing the world of domestic violence that can occur behind closed doors. These films, along with tapes, home videos, and text messages, give viewers a rare and significant insight into a marriage that went tragically wrong, and further enhance the issue of domestic violence.

This fall, Johnny vs. Amberwill will be on Discovery+.
