Key Covid Rules are changed in Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines ...

The covid epidemic spread quickly from a small inconvenience to an event that shook the whole world. In March 2020, businesses closed down, people began isolating, and we all began hearing about wearing masks.

It all seemed temporary because the notion that the world would close down for more than a year amounted to unimaginable. But individuals began to work from home. Among so many other changes, restaurants closed their dining rooms and moved to a delivery-and-takeout approach.

As for Royal Caribbean International (RCL) - Get Royal Caribbean Group Report, Carnival Cruise Line (CCL) - Get Carnival Corporation Report, and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) - Get Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. Report, the major U.S. cruise-line players shut down their operations in March 2020. Again, it seemed like a temporary closure, something that would resolve itself, perhaps not in weeks but in months.

In reality, the Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian stayed their North American operations until July 2021. And when they returned, they were subjected to strict protocols.

These rules have been gradually changing. Despite the major changes to Carnival''s onboard guidelines for children younger than 12 years ago, Royal Caribbean has made a change for those who live in the same age group.

The Royal Caribbean

Kids'' Policies will be changed by Carnival and the Royal Caribbean.

All passengers from Royal Caribbean and Carnival must be vaccinated, claiming that some 11-year-olds were unvaccinated. Both cruise lines have different testing requirements for those unvaccinated passengers as well as mask requirements. Both are also requiring that each person be vaccinated to be vaccinated.

Carnival had authorised a certain number of people under 12 not to be vaccinated, but its policy had specifically not permitted them into its Camp Ocean kid''s club, according to Cruzely.

This requirement is apparently dropped under a newly released policy.

"Now, however, the regulations are becoming more restrictive. Carnival is constantly tweaking its onboard protocols, and a recent update shows no mention of vaccines to play in Camp Ocean or the Circle C and Club 02 areas designed for older kids," the cruise news website said.

The "new notice does not explicitly state that children no longer need the vaccination to enter Camp Ocean or other youth areas. However, previous spelling that directly mention these areas were only open to "fully vaccinated children" has been removed.

Camp Ocean, which previously accepted children as early as two, does not allow children under five years old.

Royal Caribbean''s kids-club policies have also been reintroduced, according to Matt Hochberg, who hasn''t been a member of the cruise line.

After seeing it on her cruise on Oasis of the Seas, one of his readers advised him to make a move. The cruise line had issued the following guidelines:

"Mask wearing is optional for children participating in Adventure Ocean. However, masks are recommended for children aged 2 to 7.

What''''s It Like to Cruise Right Now?

While remnants of the epidemic remain, crew members wear masks, but passengers must be vaccinated and provide negative covid tests taken no more than two days before their sails most onboard tasks feel normal. Cruise passengers no longer have to wear masks onboard or during the boarding process.

Both Carnival and Royal Caribbean have reintroduced full passenger loads on their ships. Buffets have changed to being self-serve rather than being served by crew members, and social distancing has more or less disappeared.

Adults are still subjected to epidemic vaccines and precruise testing, while children under 12 still face certain pandemic restrictions depending on vaccination status. That''s causing danger for adults as long as covid remains a concern.
