Stephanie McMahon has announced her departure from WWE ...

On Thursday, Stephanie McMahon, a top WWE official, announced her departure from the company.

McMahon explains that she is contemplating stepping down from the majority of her roles with WWE in order to focus on her family in the stunning revelation.

In a tweet, the announcement was made on Thursday afternoon.

After taking this time to focus on my family, WWE has made a lasting difference for me.

As of tomorrow, I have taken a leave of absence from the majority of my duties at WWE. WWE is a lifelong journey for me, and I look forward to returning to the company that I love following this time to focus on my family.

McMahon, the 45-year-old WWE executive, is the head of the WWE''s global brand development.

McMahon is the wife of WWE president Paul Triple H Levesque and the daughter of Vince McMahon. She and Levesque have three daughters together and have been married since 2003.

Stephanie McMahon and her family have been engaged in professional wrestling for decades, including founding Raw, NXT, and SmackDown. Despite upstarts, WWE pay-per-view events remain to be major draws, and the televised shows are ranking winners.

Stephanie McMahon joined the family business as a child after graduation from the University of Iowa. She once held the WWF Womens Championship and competed against her father, Vince McMahon, in the legendary I Quit match.

Stephanie McMahon has made sporadic television appearances. She was appointed chief brand officer in December 2013 and works with advertising, media, business partners, and investors.

She is married to WWE Hall of Famer Paul Levesque, who is a WWE executive. Three children are their parents.

Despite his retirement from in-ring competition, Levesque encountered a life-threatening health scare last year. In a March interview with ESPNs Stephen A. Smith, he disclosed that he will never wrestle again because of cardiac problems.

McMahon, according to Levesque, was his rock as he confronted his health problems. She was and always will be a rock for me, Levesque said.

McMahon is expected to stay away from WWE for the next couple of weeks, but she will be waiting for her to return.
