MCU fans will have a special treat waiting for them until the end of 2022. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is expected to drop in December on Disney+ and will see the fan-favorite group of intergalacticmisfits caught up in some holiday cheer. The special was directed by James Gunn, who also led the way on the three Guardiansfeature films.
In the special, nothing is known about the story, including its length, but it will feature many of the characters from the films, as well as a few surprises.
Considering that certain production ofAtlanta on a set that was designed to look like Beverly Hills, Gunn filmed the special during the production ofGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3and interestingly enough, it appears that some of the action will take place on Earth. Also along for the ride is the telepathic dog knownas Cosmo, who had a brief comeo in the Collector''s museum in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.
What''s more, James Gunn made the pledge that "one of the greatest MCU characters of all time" will be introduced in theHoliday Special. But will all of these special appearances and returning cast members be seen and reported, anyway?
The Guardians Could Be Down a Member
According to a tweet from the director of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, James Gunn referenced a fan-made image, claiming that not every character who is present in the image appears in theHoliday Special.
"The above is not an official image, rather a fan-made." Not all of these characters are included in the Holiday special. It takes place between Thor 4 and Vol 3.
Gunn mentioned that the special will feature a soundtrack, which is more likely to refer to classic tunes that have been associated with the Guardians franchise. Despite the director, "original music" will be heard.
"There will be a soundtrack yes, which includes original music."
Gunn clarified some additional information about what the special is, and it would, as long as possible, include that it is "part of the MCU canon."
I can. It''s a Disney Plus TV Special (not a feature length film) that works in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it''s a canon, with a few key new elements in the Guardians story.
Who Could Be the Missing Guardian?
Is it true, "Why might be the Guardian missing?"
Obviously given how things went down inAvengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgame, it''s extremely likely that ZoeSaldana''sGamora will not appear in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Gamora resurfaces, but it''s not the Gamora that Star-Lord and its followers appreciate and love; rather, it''s a timeline variation from the year 2014 that has no history with the team.
Peter Quill of Chris Pratt was last seen in the shipyard searching for Gamora''s location on his computer. Although Saldana is certainly inGuardians Vol. 3, the implication is that the crew does not locate her until the events of the threequel.
Gunn, among others, cites "original music." What might this mean? Is he just referring to the special''s musical score or do Quill, Rocket, and the gang steal some Christmas carols?
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which was previously mentioned, will be available on Disney+.
