In Thor: Love and Thunder, Natalie Portman is reported to be a lot funnier ...

In July, Marvel Studios will return to one of its more funky franchises with Thor: Love and Thunder, with Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman both in tow as the Gods of Thunder. This new solo outing hopes to bring Thor franchise to new levels of joy and hilarity while also adding some extra flair.

Portman will make her first full appearance as Jane Foster in over a decade, except for a few seconds of footage in 2019''s Avengers: Endgame, and it will feature a significant increase for Foster. After becoming worthy of using a pieced-together Mjolnir, Foster will finally be able to be a superhero in her own right.

Love and Thunder is sure to be another outing filled with comedic flair, according to Taika Waititi. The director has stated that everyone is even funnier this time around than in Thor: Ragnarok, which premieres on November 21. Portman will also be able to shine on the comedy side as well as in her action scenes.

Natalie Portman''''s Comedic Chops In Thor 4

Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Love and Thunder, talked about Natalie Portman''s return as Jane Foster as she appoints As The Mighty Thor in the latest issue of Empire Magazine.

Waititi wanted to ensure that Portman wasn''t "coming back and playing that same character" as she did in the first two movies, restricting her to doing science experiments while Thor is flying around being a hero. He also mentioned how the actress is "really funny in real life," which he wanted to bring to this film more for her to reprise the role:

"Well, you dont want Natalie returning and playing that same character who is walking around with science equipment. "You know, while Thors flying around, she is left on Earth, tapping her foot going Whens he going to be back? "You want her to be part of the adventure. "It''s very comfortable in real life. Natalie is kind of playful and has a great sense of humor, and I think it was too successful in the first films."

The Marvel filmmaker also looked at Thor''s relationship, which has been largely on hiatus for over a decade as each of them had a "whole other life." He couldn''t promise that the story would focus on the love relationship between them, but it''s clear that the confrontation will be something to keep an eye on.

"I always think about it in real time for people who have been watching the movies. So its been eight years. Shes had a whole other life, and then the love of your life comes back on the stage, and she is now dressed like you. It''s a real mindfuck for Thor. I cant promise anything. I cant promise that what people expect in this film will happen.

Mighty Thor Bringing the Funny in Comeback

Taika Waititi is known as a savant in comedy as seen in his films on Thor: Ragnarok and Non-MCU. It seems only right that with Portman returning to Thor: Love and Thunder, she''ll have the opportunity to partake in some of that comedy herself, especially as she learns to develop her new abilities.

The best part of these quotes is the confirmation that Potman''s Mighty Thor evolution will mean she''s not sitting on the sidelines anymore during the cosmic action scenes that will melt away in this movie. This was already teased for a brief moment in the movie''s first trailer, which was released a few weeks ago, and gave the first glimpse at both her costume and the hammer in her hand.

It''s still a mystery how Portman''s performance will come out after her absence in the previous film, but it''s evident that Waititi has made it a mission to ensure she shines in her third Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance.

As he prepares to pursue his own life, Thor''s "old flame" will certainly throw him back for a loop. Since Jane''s defeat to Thanos, and the God of Thunder''s new journey will be in for his wildest solo ride yet.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters on July 8.
