One of the topics at GamesBeat Summit was the recent rise in mergers and acquisitions in the gaming industry. Whether it be the Microsoft-Activision acquisition or the Take-Twos acquisition of Zynga, these agreements have a huge impact on the gaming world.

How the rise of gaming changes things

These public companies, like Microsoft and Take-Two, although they have may had their own particular reasons for doing acquisition, ultimated wanted to gain access to more scale, wanted to get access to more IP, wanted to get access to more audience members, and perhaps a diversified audience across platforms. Thats what the market is rewarding.

Will we see more M&A?

Zhu said, I believe that right now is an all-time high in terms of gaming innovation, which is rapidly expanding the market. Petrovic said that the gaming industry will likely develop with the addition of Web3, which is because many of us are concerned about how they are making these products and the target audience that is using them, and that I think what the gaming industry will pivot into or evolve into is trying to see if this Web3 platform opportunity is real, if it starts attracting more traditional users that were used to advertising and making games for, along with those that already exist.
