The 25th entry in the James Bond franchise, No Time To Die, will be released in 2021, following several lockdown-related delays. As Bond fans will recall, celebrated British filmmaker Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) was initially scheduled to direct No Time To Die, but dropped out in August 2018 due to creative differences.a Now, Boyle has shared details of his deleted James Bond film and who expects to be 007 next.

The filmmaker spoke to Esquire about his reluctance to aget involveda with a large movie program. aThey want you to freshen it up a bit, but not really challenge it, and we wanted to do something different with it, according to the author.

Boyle revealed that the film would have been set in present-day Russia and awould have been very topical now.a He told the outlet, aIt was all set in Russia, which is of course where Bond came from, out of the Cold War, and went back to his roots, and they just lost, whatas the worda they just lost confidence in it. Although this is the first weare hearing about what might have been in the Bond universe, Boyle previously spoke with Metro about his decision to withdraw from the film back in 2019, admitting that he has learned a lot when it comes to making major film franchises.
