Biodegradable Gel Encapsulating T-Cell Activating Platelets ...

The hydrogel (in blue) is encapsulating T cell-activating platelets (in red) and nanoparticles that release a medication to inhibit tumor-boosting cells (in green). This gel inhibited cancer cells'' development following surgical removal of different types of tumors.

The gel, which was tested in mice, releases drugs and special antibodies that simultaneously deplete immune-blocking cells called macrophages from the surgical site and activate T cells so they can fight cancer.
