Withings has launched a remote-patient monitoring for patients and care teams ...

Withings Health Solutions has developed a new remote-patient monitoring (RPM) solution to reduce patient friction. The company has over 13 years of experience in developing medical-grade devices that fit seamlessly into consumer lifestyles.

Withings RPM, a result of two years of development and collaboration with hundreds of health providers, has been designed to remove the challenges of remote-patient monitoring activities and make their deployment more convenient for physicians. It is also convenient, simple and convenient for patients.

Withings is focusing on well-designed clinically-validated devices, which can improve sleep, temperature, and glucose measurement. It is also adding intuitive dashboards that simplify every aspect of creating and administering RPM programs, offering significant benefits to patients and providers.

Benefits for providers

The new RPM solution was designed to simplify the onboarding process. Patients may be ordered and sent to recipients in a few minutes. In minutes, physicians can also design care plans and establish goals for each patient.

With automated alerts and reminders covering patient health data and program compliance indicators, RPM is also made to easily manage data from multiple patients. These include alerts on device usage (both initial setup and ongoing use), as well as alerts when patient vitals require action.

It is also aimed at enhancing patient interaction by the ability to send regular messages to patients via their preferred communication channel. That includes text messages, phone calls, and in-app video calls. These communications are also used to provide reminders, additional guidance and encouragement.

Optimisation of data collecting for both providers and patients

The objective is to put patient engagement and satisfaction at the heart of the solution; the company is rebalancing its current industry focus to better address both sides of the equation needed to ensure successful remote monitoring activities.

On the one hand, healthcare professionals must have access to continuous and accurate home data. It needs to be collected, transmitted, and analyzed in a frictionless manner while also tracking billable information. On the other hand, patients must be motivated to continue track and use at-home clinical devices in a cohesive manner.

RPM solutions have traditionally focused on provider integration capabilities without optimizing the experience for patients that ultimately lead the program.

Withings Med Pro Care, our first remote-patient monitoring solution, has continued to assess the market to identify pain points and identify strategies to allow RPM to take off and be finally distributed at scale, according to Antoine Robiliard, vice president of Withings Health Solutions. In our study, the missing ingredient now is attention to simplicity and a focus on the patient experience.

Optimizing the billing process

Care providers may spend the majority of their time evaluating clinical data without having to devote time educating patients on the use of devices or complete billing paperwork. Withings RPM automatically tracks activity against CPT reimbursement codes and records monthly reports with the data required to bill insurers. This functionality is either directly through the Withings RPM or via an improved EHR billing integration.

It is also capable of keeping the clinical workflow unchanged with a software that works with virtually any EHR solution, has a single sign-in option, direct displays the captured data in the patient chart, and allows care providers to look up alerts directly in the EHR system.

As the Withings RPM becomes compatible with the Withings Sleep Mat and its preferred partner glucometer, providers will be able to incorporate sleep tracking and glucose measurements into their RPM programs.

Withings'' broad range of devices includes connected scales, hybrid watches, smart thermometers, blood pressure monitors, and sleep trackers capable of capture up to 20 key health parameters such as blood pressure, weight, heart rate, activity levels, and sleep patterns, as well as provide an ECG for heart health.
