Peacock Makes a Move to Challenge Disney's Hulu

Peacock Makes a Move to Challenge Disney's Hulu ...

Peacock, a streaming service for ABC, was launched almost two years ago.

If that sounds surprising to you, the Covid-19 epidemic had hammered our collective sense of time, but it may be quite a bit of a worry to forget that Peacock still exists.

Get Comcast Corp. Reportentry into streaming wars has a lot going for it, including an extensive catalog of films from the Universal Studios library, as well as classic NBC sitcoms such as The Office and Cheers.

This is also the rare streaming service that has a free option. By signing up for an ad-light and an ad-free mode, you may get more exclusive content.

Peacock has been trailing behind the other streaming services so far.

Netflix (NFLX) - Get Netflix, Inc. Reporthad 214 million total subscribers and Disney+ (DIS) - Get Walt Disney Company Reporttrailed closely behind with 118 million total subscriptions at the end of last year.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, [Peacock] had 54 million subscribers and more than 20 million active accounts.

NBC Universal announced intentions to invest $5 billion on content for the service earlier this year, indicating that Comcast, the parent company, was involved in the move to win.

The company served one of its strongest salvos yet, revealing that NBC shows like Saturday Night Live, The Voice, and Late Night With Seth Meyers will only be available on Peacock the day after they air.

They will no longer be available on Disney''s other streaming service, Hulu.

This was to be expected, as exclusivity is the name of the game in the streaming world.

Peacock has made a more bizarre move and has given it a big win.

What Channel Did Peacock Nab From Hulu?

Hulu had a much lower streaming service base than Netflix, although it had fewer buzzed-about original shows.

Tiles like PEN15 and The Handmaid''s Tale helped to resolve this problem.

The day after the programs became available, one of Hulus'' biggest selling points was that it had new episodes of Bobs Burgers and Saturday Night Live, whereas with Netflix you had to wait for an entire season to come to an end.

Peacock has removed a page from the Hulus page and has reached an agreement with Bravo, a company that is specialized in guilty pleasure reality television.

Peacock has taken further steps to become a film sensation in partnership with Lionsgate.

Peacock will be available for all Lionsgate films starting this year, and starting in 2023 they will be exclusively available on the market.

At the moment, some films will only premiere on Starz for a while before moving to Roku for a brief period, then on Peacock.
