Sony unveils 4K laser projectors with excellent pictures, but it will costyou a lot ...

All three of Sony''s new 4K laser projectors support a wide variety of applications and dynamic HDR enhancers. These features should provide greater contrast while adjusting HDR quality frame-by-frame.

While these models do not allow for 2K resolution but do have a significant reduction in input lag for gaming. Sony claims that at 60Hz, the projectors have just 21 milliseconds of lag and only 13ms at 120Hz.

The $6,000 VPL-XW5000ES, which offers 2,000 lumens of brightness, will be upgraded to 2,500lm and features an Advanced Crisp-Focused lens for a more consistent image across a broad area. The VPL-XW7000ES, which goes for $28,000 and has a 3,200lm resolution of 4096 x 2160.

For comparison, Acer''s lamp-based and LED-based gaming projectors have increased the rate of return in VRR and up to 240Hz in 1080p (or 4K at 60Hz) for a fraction of Sony''s new models. Laser projectors have increased image quality and last longer than lamp bulbs, but they are significantly lower in price.

This summer, Sony intends to launch all three projectors.
