On April 26-28th, GamesBeat Summit 2022 resumes with its largest event for gaming leaders.
Sony's stock has got a coming down the pipe, which allows PS5 owners to get access to a variable refresh rate (VRR) option. The new feature and support is coming out globally starting this week.
Owners of HDMI 2.1 VRR compatible televisions and monitors can assist the new technology in dynamically synchronizing the screen's refresh rate to the PS5's visual output. This helps to reduce visual artifacting and screen tear, thus reducing visual performance.
Sony has a list of the first fourteen games to be eligible for VRR with patches. They are:
- Astros Playroom
- Call of Duty: Vanguard
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Destiny 2
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
- DIRT 5
- Godfall
- Marvels Spider-Man Remastered
- Marvels Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Resident Evil Village
- Tiny Tinas Wonderlands
- Tom Clancys Rainbow Six Siege
- Tribes of Midgard
These are just the first confirmed recipients. PS5 games that have already been released can be fully enhanced for VRR through a game patch. Any upcoming games may include VRR support at launch.
How to Use It
If your PS5 is connected to one of the above cameras, the VRR option will be automatically disabled. It's easy to get the update done first. In the system settings, you can use the screen and video button to do it.
VRR is also available as a feature for currently unsupported games. However, the results may vary. Depending on where the game is located, it would be quite easy to apply it.
