Justin Lin helped steer the "Fast Saga" until after a big start. The solution? Go bigger and more ridiculous. (Mind you, Lin, also helmed the previous two outings, which both failed. But he still helped steer the ship right.) He has returned to the series with, and it is no longer to be.

Lin made a statement on the franchise's social media account on Tuesday, less than a week after the shooting began.

I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of FAST X, while remaining with the project as a producer, Lin wrote. Over ten years and five films, we have been able to shot the best actors, the best stunts, and the finest damn car chases. I will forever be grateful to the incredible cast, crew, and studio for their support and for welcoming me into the FAST family.

The film's director says the shoot will take a brief break while a replacement is discovered.

The Fast Saga has seen its share of behind-the-scenes drama, most notably between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.
