Keanu Reeves' next John Wick will be directed to The Channel, according to a film production agreement. Chapter four has been sent to the streaming platform.
The multiyear agreement will first see the studio's theatrical releases in 2022 receive two separate windows for each film. The first will offer Roku exclusive rights to Lionsgate's film slate immediately after the first pay theatrical window on Starz.
The first short-term agreement to enlist Roku Channel users into new theatrical films will be followed in a second and more flexible window at a later date.
"This partnership with The Roku Channel demonstrates our ability to capitalize on the challenges facing today's complex television landscape with a multifaceted, multifaceted approach that meets everyone's needs," said Lionsgate president.
Titles such as Expendables 4, Borderlands, directed by Eli Roth, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jack Black, and Kelly Fremon Craig's Are You There God? Me, Margaret, is a musical adaptation of Oscar winner James L. Brooks and is adapted from the Judy Blume classic.
Other Lionsgate titles will be released on The Roku Channel: White Bird: A Wonder Story, featuring Helen Mirren and Gillian Anderson, and the Nicolas Cage starrer The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
"This innovative approach creates value for both parties and, most importantly, gives the Roku channel the opportunity to enjoy these compelling titles through this unique window," Rob Holmes, the director of programming, said in his own statement.
